I am very proud of my 17 yr old son Zak. He has been living and training for the month in Rio de Janeiro while preparing for the Mundials (World BJJ Championships). My partner, Regis Lebre, was down there coaching him alond with several other of our Maxercise students. Zak fought the week before in the Copa Mundial (World Cup) and took the bronze. Today, he again took the bronze in the Worlds. Only the very best and toughest compete in this tournament. Zak lost to the same kid in both tournaments by referees decision in the semi finals. To bad the two best guys met in the semi's. That kid went on to submit his opponent in the finals. All the Brazilians must qualify by winning or placing in all the local state regional tournaments. Brazil has 24 states, so that meansa potential 48 state or state runner ups who are eligible to compete. Foreigners do not have to qualifyand it is extremely rare for a non-Brazilain to place or even win a single match for that matter. I am very proud of my boy. He worked very hard and trained like an animal. The most important thing is that he will use this as aspring board to jump his game to the next level.
