Qi Gong: Does it work?

I was just looking over the website, and found the qi gong longevity set. I was just wondering what it all does. I'm in pretty good shape as it is, so will i benefit from it anyway?

I hope some of you can make it to the Unlock! flexibilit/mobility workshop Pavel, myself and Steve are doing in July.
I will be teaching around four hours of qigong at that workshop, quite a lot of it not on any of my current videos.
You may be surprised at how demanding some of the qigong is -- and how invigorating. This particular workshop of course is mobility-oriented so the qigong fits that profile.
There are also qigong practices that contribute greatly to strength and conditioning, none of which I have personally put on tape, but do teach.
I expect to be putting on a qigong for strength and conditioning workshop down the road, which I highly recommend as a complement to KB practice.
The comments from Steve Cotter and Ultracharge are well worth noting.

I just wanted to tell everyone that competed that the results were very inspirational. I especialy like seeing the results of the various 10 minute SS Snatch tests!!I am going to go outside and crack the wipe a little harder!!
I also want to tell Sarah if she is on this site that I was truly impressed to see the impresive numbers she put up. I love to se young adults participateing in strength type events! I especialy like to see women in these sports! We really do not have enough women in these type of sports!!! What truly impressed me was her three tactical pullups with a 12Kg KB!!! What is really impressive is that to date all the women both young and old that do KB lifting still have a very femine(sp) figures with a slight athletic build! KB's never stop amazeing me!! Prior to getting into KB's and seeing Mr. Ducane adn Maxwell and all the female competitors that recently competed I would never have belived women could be this strong and still look like lovely athletic women! I hope this did not come off as sexist as I did not mean it that way!! I just was really impressed!!!

tactical pullups -- at seventeen years old she was the only woman present to accomplish this. She is a phenom.
And of course Sarah was amazing.
You are very right about the women at the convention.
Svelte is a word that comes to mind. Another word would be lithe. A real testament to what kettlebells can do for women.
One of the new women RKCs whom I interviewed at the last RKC said something I liked about their appeal to women, amongst many other appeals: "If you don't have a butt, kettlebells will give you a butt. If your butt is too big, kettlebells will reduce and tone it."
Sounds good to me!

after reading some of the research and reading people's testimonials.
I tried Synthovial Seven for several months.
Can't say I could be sure of a noticeable difference, but I might try it again down the road (it's pricey!)
I would be very interested in anyone's feedback myself as it is certainly a very intriguing product.

The Beast is in production but we still haven't been shown the prototype.

Hey guys, there's a new article up on T-mag where TC recounts Pavel's response to being asked to write for T-Nation. It's not very flattering and I think Pavel will need some INTELLIGENT defense on the site.

PS I'm not writing this to be contentious or a rabble-rouser, just a messenger.
In fact, I'd lover nothing more than to see Pavel write for T-nation.

Martial Arts and aging

Have a question for anyone that is involved in martial arts over the age of 27...Having had a background in fighting martial arts since i was a kid(boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, and judo) i was wondering if it is possible to do WELL in the more artistic martial arts(Capoeira, and wushu). Is this something that is realistic with a moderate amount of success, or is this more of a kids world?

I first took up Kung Fu at the age of around 35. There were weeks where I would be practicing two or more hours five days of the week. I spent about five years doing very demanding Wu Shu-like practices and did very fine.
The general thought in these styles is that you reach your prime in your late forties, early fifties.
And then there is the true martial art of Tai Chi (as opposed to the health dance), Bagua, Hsing Yi etc where you can continue to develop surprising power, energy and strength into your seventies and eighties.
Master TT Liang started Tai Chi when he was forty-five. He was considered a martial handful in his sixties and beyond.
Depends on a lot of factors, but the artistic martial practices, as you refer to them, can give you a lifetime of satisfying results and development.
I have no experience with Capoeira, but I do know there many styles, some more athletic than others.

Good to hear Brian.
We are aware also that the off-the-shelf forum softwares that most sites are using are very vulnerable to hacking as you point out.
A few years ago, we had major discussions about whether to go with a multiple topic forum or to keep it simple as we have done here.
There are big plusses and minuses whichever direction you take.

Five Animal Frolic Qigong

I'm interested in learning qigong, and JDC's dvd's look like a good place to start. Is the bliss qigong dvd the best one to start off with? How should one go about integrating all five animal frolics into a single routine over time?

Yes, start with Bliss.
Your second question depends so much on how much time you have to practice.
You can do a long version of all Five Animals in about an hour. You can cut the reps and do a half hour version.
You can break the animals up in the day and do fifteen minutes or so four times a day.
There are many possibilities.
If you are doing all five together, the traditional progression is Crane, Bear, Monkey, Deer, Tiger.
