Royal Court - Testimonials?

Comrades - I hope this is not too off-topic for the forum. Recently read Com Mahlers article about Royal Court, consisting of Hindu Squats, Hindu Pushups- he suggests using sets of 25HPU/50HSqts for active recovery sessions - anyone here used them? Just curious on your take. The 3rd exercise - Bridging sort of scares me as I have read too many negative things about stress on the neck, etc, but it certainly sounds beneficial. (Sorry I did a search but the number of hits are just way too many to try and look thru to get info from). Thanks!

Good stuff just do not go out of control with the reps (hundreds of reps). Doing 25 Hindu Pushups and some Hindu Squats in the morning is a good way to loosen up. Also a great option for a workout "finisher." Hindu Squats can be hard on the knees so ease into them. Mike Mahler

Hindu Pushups never really bothered my shoulders. They did start bothering my elbows when I started doing too much volume too often (hundreds of reps daily). What jacked my shoulders were Handstand Pushups between two chairs. Mike Mahler

Question

ScottA: September 20 2006

Which is harder, C&P for 5 reps, or MP for 5 reps?

I've read here that C&P is easier in that you get to re-set your tension by re-cleaning the kettlebell each rep, whereas with MP, you clean once and have to maintain your tension without the aid of a clean. I trained MP a lot more than C&P prior to ETK, and on my ETK initial C&P test, I could not do as many reps by C&P as I could with MP. C&P seemed to take a lot more effort. I do C&P exclusively now for training, but occasionally I'll do a set of MP just for fun, and I still seem to get more reps per unit time by MP. Am I missing something, or maybe I'm just wierd? Or missing something AND wierd! ScottA

Hey Scott, While the clean and press does allow you to re-set the tension each time, it can throw your pressing groove off if you are not used to it. Once you get used to the clean and press you will most likely find that you can do more presses than regular military presses. The clean and press when done in high repetitions has a cardio component as well that is not present with military presses. Mike Mahler
